Contemplation in progress..

I'm starting this new blog for two reasons; to create a new travel blog that is simpler and less messy than my blog "Just Passing Time", and secondly in hopes to find people out there that share commonalities with us (my husband and I). If you are finding this blog and belong to the latter, don't be afraid to comment of leave your information for discussion!

My husband and I have been together for 5+ years now, and in that time we have done some pretty amazing things. One of our favorite things to do: Travel!! We've been to 12 countries together including Haiti, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Italy, , the U.K., France and Russia. We've also travelled to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and several U.S states along the way. Some of our other hobbies include motorcycling, camping, exercising, wine making and socializing. Some of our favorite camp spots include Yosemite, Sequoia National Park, Zion and Pensacola beach.

What's going on in our lives at this point? Well, we had an awesome summer hanging out with friends and family. This was our second summer living in Biloxi and we found it to be much more exciting than last year. We spent most of the summer lounging around by the pool of our new condo, took a few trips to New Orleans since it's only an hour away, spent some of our time in Tampa, Pensacola, Panama City, Destin, and Grayton Beach in Fl, and flew to San Diego, Yellowstone, Key West and Taiwan. To say the least, it has been one busy yet exciting summer!

We just got back from our most recent trip camping in Montgomery AL. Why, you ask, would anyone want to go camping in Montgomery? Eric and a friend of ours signed up for the Coosa River Challenge, a fun race with 22 miles of running, mountain biking, kayaking and cross fit challenges. They did a great job finishing in a good amount of time, and we got a good start on camping for the fall season. We stayed at Fort Toulouse National Historic park, a decent campground I suggest only for a one nighter or if you need a place to stay during the Coosa River Challenge.

What's next on our list for the year? We have a flight booked for San Diego in November. Eric's family lives in San Diego so we try to fly back a few times per year, but while we're there we will watch Pearl Jam play in concert, which is an extra goodie for us. On top of that, a few weeks ago one of Eric's coworkers offered to take a week of his shifts, which would mean that he would have two whole weeks off of work. The last time we've had two weeks straight off of work was a year and a half ago, before Eric started his job here in MS. So, of course we were beyond excited and booked a trip to the Philippines immediately! We are still in the process of planning, but so far I think we will be splitting our time between El Nido, Coron, and Boracay Islands. I recently read that El Nido is where Alex Garland was inspired to write the book "The Beach", and being a lover of that particular book, I am very much looking forward to going there. Did I mention I'm excited!?!?

Eric and I are also working on a long term travel plan coming up soon. By July next year at the latest, we hope to be travelling to South American by motorbike taking at least six months to a year off of work to complete the trip. At this point, we are still working on logistics and getting the time approved to take off of work. That's better than just quitting and leaving, right? Right??

Until later...
