We had planned to be in Puerto Aventuras for two nights as
we arrived late the first night and it would be too late to pick up our bike. So, our plan for today was to pick up our bike from the storage unit, see if it
even started, and go from there. Our overall goal was to do some bike maintenance
and fix the windshield again which we thought we had straightened last time but as it turns out was still a bit slanted,
and put the laminar lip back on. We woke up a little late from the previous
night of drinking with Dan and Pam, missing breakfast, but made it out of the
house by 11 am. Dan and Pam were nice enough to pick us up and bring us to the
storage unit which was just a few miles down the road. Ted, the storage
facility owner, knew we would be coming and had the bike ready for us sitting
out in front washed and ready to go. It was so nice to see our bike again! It
started up no problem surprisingly after sitting for almost 2 months. We
paid the rest of our storage fee, tipped the worker who washed our bike for us,
and headed off! It was so nice to be back on the bike. Being reunited with the
bike made us feel like our long awaited journey was finally here!
Private cenote outside our hotel. My guess is that no one would want to do any spiritual healing in here.
Nice patio for coffee
Patio furniture needs a little tlc..
Eric is happy to have the bike back!
This is a great place for storage if you are ever in the area and in need
We hit our favorite torta stand just outside of Puerto
before heading back to start the bike maintenance. We drove over to Latitude 20
where Pam and Dan would be so we could have some shade and a nice place to work
in. Eric was able to finally straighten the windshield, put the laminar lip
back on, and then checked to make sure fluids, etc were ready to go on the bike.
I sat and watched kids and families as they swam with and fed the dolphins at the Dreams resort. Looks fun but for 200 dollars per person watching is good enough for me!
We spent the rest of the day at Pam and Dan’s place hanging
by their pool, drinking rum, and eating pizza. Simon and Lisa came too, and we
had a good time taking drunken underwater photos with their underwater camera. We never
got a copy of their photos, but it was good fun. We spent from 2 pm to 12 am by
the pool and finally decided to head home. We needed to get some sleep since we
would have to spend the morning re packing our luggage onto the bike and then
making the 3 hour journey North to Holbox Island.
The Iguanas are like squirrels in Puerto, they are everywhere!
Eric goofs off with his riding gear after a little (too much) rum!
Back at our hotel we struggled to get out of this mess in order to get into our room. Unfortunately it took us much longer than it should have with all the drinking we did beforehand!
